<p><strong>Co-creator of The Daily Show to Speak at OU</strong></p>
<p>Lizz Winstead, comedian and co-creator of <em>The Daily Show</em>, will discuss “TV Comedy, The Daily Show and Lizz Free or Die!” as part of the Presidential Dream Course “The Nature of Laughter.” Her presentation is set for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the Gaylord College Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation Auditorium.<br />
<br />
Winstead’s appearance is part of the on-going Nature of Laughter Presidential Dream Course hosted by Professors Andrew Horton, OU College of Arts and Sciences Film and Media Studies Program, and Joanna E. Rapf, OU College of Arts and Sciences English Department.<br />
<br />
Winstead and Madeliene Smithberg created <em>The Daily Show</em> beginning in 1996 for Comedy Central. In the following years, she was involved in many shows, including <em>The Man Show</em>, <em>Snap Judgment</em>, <em>Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn</em> and <em>O2Be</em>. In 2003, she created Air America Radio, featuring <em>Unfiltered</em>, which she co-hosts with Chuck D. and Rachel Maddow. She recently published a book of essays in <em>Lizz Free or Die</em>, which examines how she discovered her comedic voice.<br />
