Welcome!

Welcome to our department, and to our new web site!  We plan to add more images and other features to our web site soon.

The Department of Anthropology at OU offers a broad education in anthropology on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our curriculum is based on the traditional four-field approach in archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and linguistics. The Graduate Program in anthropology offers Master's degrees and doctoral degrees. Our Native American Language Program focuses on instruction in five different languages: Cherokee, Cheyenne, Choctaw, Creek, and Kiowa.

The Department of Anthropology is located in the Cate Center 4 building (south of Lindsey Street) during the Dale Hall Tower renovation. We anticipate being in Cate Center 4 from June 1, 2011 until summer of 2012. All phone numbers and mailing addresses are unchanged during that time; mail addressed to our DHT office will be delivered to Cate Center 4.

Please check with individual faculty for their temporary office locations in Cate Center 4.
