Giving Back

As one of the pioneers of the discipline, OU’s History of Science Department has a long tradition of training both undergraduates and graduate students. The department competes with the very finest departments in the United States for talented faculty and graduate students, while introducing undergraduates to historical studies of science, technology and medicine. Much of our success has depended on the generosity of donors who have chosen to invest in our program. Recent gifts have included a generous endowment from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funding a travel fellowship to bring scholars from around the world to the Collections, and contributions from alumni and friends to endow the Marilyn B. Ogilvie Graduate Fellowship. This year, as we inaugurate a new undergraduate program, we have received funding to endow an annual scholarship for an undergraduate student majoring in History of Science, Technology and Medicine.

We encourage you to join in our important work by contributing to the Department of the History of Science. Among the options for giving are

  • The History of Science Department Fund
  • The Marilyn B. Ogilvie Graduate Fellowship
  • Supporting Undergraduate Education
  • The History of Science Research Award
