Although ubiquitous and universal as experience and increasingly as identity and a marker of social difference, research on disability is marked by a distinct theoretical and spatial focus on the global North. This seminar, led by Forum Fellow Dr. Aparna Nair (History of Science) and based on the Forum’s 2016-2017 theme of “Outcasts & Outlands,” will explore the histories of impairment in the global South through readings on Botswana, Jamaica, and South Asia. Readings will be distributed in advance to registered participants. Space is limited. A light lunch will be provided.
