The Department of Health and Exercise Science offers scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted into the program and have completed a number of credit hours in the HES core curriculum.  All scholarships are merit based.  No demonstrated financial need is required.

Virginia Morris Scholarship - HES Undergraduate Merit Scholarship

  • Biography and Goals Statement
    Create a biography and goals statement not to exceed 1-page, (12 pt. font, single-spaced) in Microsoft Word or similar program for copying and pasting into the application.  The biography and goals statement must relate to a pursuit of a career in school or community education.
  • Experience Statement
    Create an experience statement not to exceed 1-page, (12 pt. font, single-spaced) in Microsoft Word or similar program for copying and pasting into the application.  The experience statement must include a work summary, field/internships experiences, and volunteer activities.
  • Resume
    Complete the Arts and Sciences Scholarship Resume and save as .pdf for uploading to the application.  Any HES pertinent training and related experiences must be included.  Please follow this link for instructions.
  • Transcripts
    All applicants must upload a web-based or an unofficial transcript from the Academic Records office that has been saved in .pdf format.  Undergraduate transcripts must show all OU/and transfer credit to date. Graduate students must submit graduate transcripts from all institutions.  Click here for instructions.

    a.  Biography that includes contributions

    b.  Goals, both professional and academic, and how your degree will help facilitate the achieving of these goals

    c.  Discussion of the value of the scholarship in helping career development

  • Experience Document
    Create a document not to exceed 1-page (12 pt. font, single spaced) In Microsoft Word or similar program for copying and pasting into the application. The experience document must include discussion of:

    a.  Relative Work Experiences (internships, jobs, field work, etc.)

    b.  Contributions to the University (Graduate Student Senate, Pre-Med Club, etc.

    c.  Contributions to the Department (committees, GA responsibilities, Independent Studies, research experiences, volunteer for projects, etc.)

    d. Contribution to the profession (professional memberships, workshops, seminars, conferences attended, certifications attained, etc.)

  • Vitae

    All applicants must upload a .pdf vitae to the application.
