HES Minor Information

Students must successfully complete with the grade of 'C' or better, at least 18 hours of course work acceptable for course credit in HES, including at least 12 hours at the upper-division level.

The following specific course requirements must be met:

  • HES 1823 – Scientific Principles of Health and Disease 
  • HES 2913 – Personal Health 
  • HES UD Elective
  • HES UD Elective 
  • HES UD Elective
  • HES UD Elective 

 The requirements for a minor must be completed concurrently with the major degree requirements. No minor may be added by completing courses after receiving the bachelor's degree. If the minor is officially declared and successfully completed, the student's transcript will so indicate at the time the bachelor's degree is posted. 

Students obtaining a minor in HES are not eligible for Internship or Independent Study hours.

NOTE: HES 2823 - Introductory Nutrition is not an acceptable substitute for HES 1823 or 2913.
