Do you have a big idea that can change OU, the state, the nation or the world?

University of Oklahoma students are invited to participate in the second annual ONEU Cup, hosted by the OU College of Arts and Sciences, OU IT, OU Office of Strategic Initiatives, the OneU Store and Microsoft. The event will take place Nov. 4 and 5 on the OU Research Campus.

During this two-day team event, students will brainstorm and develop a technological solution for financial, interpersonal or physical health for OU students and the community.

Do you have ideas on how students can access healthier options at campus dining or improve their health other ways? Do you have a strategy for financial health that could help students at OU? Then we need you. Experience in coding is not required, and those who want to learn are encouraged to participate.

Faculty and staff interested in participating also may register to be mentors for the individual teams.

The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Innovation Hub, located at Three Partners Place, 201 David L. Boren Blvd.

Teams will have Friday night to brainstorm, bounce their ideas off mentors and hear from Microsoft engineers. Specific design requirements also will be presented. Saturday will be a full day of coding, prototyping and working closely with Microsoft to put ideas into action with final presentations given at the close of the event.

Students can sign up through OrgSync individually and be placed on a team, or teams can sign up as a group. This event is complimentary for OU faculty, staff and students.

Meals will be provided for participants, and the winning team will receive gadgets from the One U Store and have their names engraved on the OneU Cup. The winning team will be decided by a panel from OU and the local community.
