Stipend 

Participants in this program will receive a taxable stipend of $2,100, payable in two installments of $1,050 at the beginning and end of the institute. This stipend is intended to help cover the costs of transportation, housing, meals, and supplies.


Travel 

Travel to and from Norman, Oklahoma, through the Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City is both affordable and convenient. Will Rogers offers direct flights to and from many major cities (e.g., Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Washington, D.C., and New York) and is about thirty minutes from the OU campus.

Northbound I-35:

  • Head south on Exit 108B toward Lindsay St 
  • Turn left onto W Lindsey Street

Southbound I-35:

  • Head northeast and take Exit 108B

Accommodations

Traditions East is an exclusive upperclass-student living apartment complex that is rented out through the University in the summer time. A block of empty units have been reserved on first-come, first-serve basis to Institute attendees. The rate will be $38 per night per bedroom (units grouped by gender). Its proximity to campus makes it a convenient place to live with easy access to features such as CART bus stops and bike paths.

Opt-in guests will also have access to free wireless Internet, cable television, and passes to the state-of-the-art Huston Huffman fitness facility. All units are furnished and will supply linens & basic cooking and eating utensils. Laundry detergent, towels, and other essentials will need to be brought. Other hotel options in Norman range from $60 to $110 per night.

  • Couch Cafeteria is located a short distance from the Tradition East housing. The cafeteria includes a cereal and salad bar, all-you-can-eat buffet, Chick-Fil-A and all types of food (though summer menu is often limited and not promising the full range of options). http://www.ou.edu/content/housingandfood/dining.html
