Recruiting to hire tenure, tenure-track or renewable term faculty is conducted on an annual basis. The dean will ask units to submit a request for permission to recruit, usually in July, for the subsequent academic year (i.e., request permission in July 2011 for new hire to start August 2012). The dean will determine the positions to be filled, based on the funds available and the priorities of the college and the president. The Dean’s office will notify the units of the searches approved by the Dean and will request the appropriate recruiting paperwork to be prepared by the unit. The Dean’s office will then forward the completed paperwork to the Provost for approval. Once the unit receives approval from the Provost, they may contact Affirmative Action to begin the search process.
